Artist Statement: Website
I have created this website in an effort to share my work and creative process with a gallery education approach. My career as a Visual Artist, Teacher, Animator, and Community Arts Volunteer has seen many phases, challenges and successes.
Constant to my studio and creative process over the past 35 years has been my practice of reflective journaling and sketchbook exploration. It is my hope that this online forum will expand my understanding of my reflective and studio practice while providing insights to those interested in my work.
My work centers on the mythology of human experience, our movement with nature and the powerful energy that is love, the force that empowers us to live and create.
The Galleries include an Artist Statement that speaks to the time when a specific body of work was created. The Workbooks feature sketches, studies, drawings, studio notes and journal entries for each corresponding body of work.
Journal entries from my archive of writing will be updated over time to reflect the range of experiences that I have expressed: as a young man, struggling artist, first time father, grieving parent, healing spirit and lover.
Coinciding with historical reflective documents, I will blog and share digital video journals of my current artistic practice.
Thank you to my partner Charmaine and my children Saren, Shawnacey and Keifer for their love, inspiration and encouragement. Sienna and Leif your passion for life is forever felt in my heart and in the joyful movement of paint in my hands.
Thank you to Michael MacMillian for being patient and teaching me how to create and manage www.peter.labelle.com This knowledge has given me the freedom to express myself in a new form.
Thank you
